Hey Guys,

I just bought a ARRIS / Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. I was wondering what would be the best Router to use with it that's

-The least hassle
-I can connect it to an external HD and upload files from any computer.
-Good with online gaming

Prince range is $100-200

Also I have a $100 giftcard for Walmart which will help lower the price tremendously if I can find something on their website. Other wise any website bestbuy/amazon will do. Thank you for your help.

It's AC1750 vs. AC1900 and the RT-AC68U has a dual core CPU, but otherwise they are not much different.

If you are thinking of splurging the extra for the AC68U I would consider the NetGear Nighthawk AC1900. I haven't tried either but my general feeling after seeing tons of feedback and reviews is that it is a very slightly better router. Just repeating the word on the street. Someone is bound to disagree.

ronintexas' recommendation is good, but I would up that to the Asus RT-N66U. It is pretty much considered the reference device for wireless N at this point. It is more expensive but the best way to future-proof your system without going AC.

Just an FYI, I am using a TP-Link Archer C7 with that model of modem and it works great. It's an AC1750 router that is less than $100. However, there have been reports of it not playing nice with Apple devices, which I can neither confirm nor deny because I have nothing Apple in my home.

You may also want to consider the Asus RT-AC66U (available at Wal-Mart.com) if you really want to future proof. It is basically the n66U but with AC capability. There was a study done by www.smallnetbuilder.com that says you will probably enjoy greater bandwidth on the N band if you are using an AC router, even if AC is not used.
