I am traveling outside U.S. for a number of months and work remotely using wireless wifi connection in hotel rooms. I use Vonage VOIP phone and need to setup with Ethernet connection. I have considered bridging the laptop connection but am looking for a better alternative device that will boost and bridge the connection from the hotels wireless signal so I can plug in an Ethernet connection into the Vonage device for best VOIP clarity.

What you need is a client-bridge. They are sold many times a repeater or range extenders but you need to be sure they can run client-bridge mode without WDS. WDS is designed to allow multiple devices...ie mac addresses...but the device you are connecting to may need to be configured to allow it and since you have no access this is not a good option. The ones that will be the strongest are directional device. You can look at either ubiquiti or engenius brands, their outdoor equipment is physically pretty small and of course can be used indoors also.

I suspect though you will be using your laptop and likely even be forced to run ICS on your laptop to make this work.

Most hotels have some form of security. At a very minimum they require you to click the I agree button on a policy. The vontage device will not be able to do this. You will have to use your PC to open the connection and then allow the vonage to share it. You may be better off with a soft client for your PC and use a headset and mic for a phone.
