Hi. I have a R9 290 reference Graphics card, so far so good except for one thing: noise (lots of it) and tems (95° during load).
I decided I had enough and I downclocked the card a 20%. No other change. It was great, now I can barely hear it, and temps are between 89-93°.
I did notice something: frames per second improved a 2%. I thought downclocking the card would actually make it slower. (maybe the throtling did affect performance like a lot).
However I feel like I have a card that could go a lot faster, I feel like I have a monster but I can't unleash its true potential (I've seen reviews of cards with aftermarker cooling solution where it even beats a gtx 780ti), but I don't have 100 dollars for an arctic accelero cooler. Do you know another option (that costs 50 dollars or less)?
