I'm planning to do an install on my neighbors laptop. He doesn't want to upgrade from XP. My question is this: Since XP is no longer supported, will I be able to download the updates that were previously released?

Thanks!

Security updates for XP - they're the ones XP users won't be able to get anymore when they re-install it, (maybe not even the old security updates but don't quote me on that)

Should be fine as long you install a trusted AV & Firewall package (and keep it updated). I've always disabled automatic updates anyway, on Windows XP, Vista & Win7. I hate it, a damn nuisance and a regular source of grief. I have always installed a trusted & reliable third-party firewall + AV, never used IE and I've been fine.
I'm pretty sure you can still download the previous updates, but no new updates will be created.
If they are going to stick with XP, just warn them that the version of Internet Explorer on Windows XP is not secure.
They should really use another browser like Chrome or Mozilla.

Thank you for your quick response, Vincent! I had done a little research and couldn't find where it said that we could still download the old updates. Thanks for clearing that up. As for Internet Explorer, I never recommend using it. Too many exploits.

Appreciate your time!
