Hello tom's Hardware community,

I have a question for anyone who can answer it. Last month I upgraded my gpu to a evga GTX 760. Its pretty sweet, and my games look and run great. However there is one major annoyance thus far: and that is a high pitch whine that is occurs while running certain games. In some games it is louder than others. The loudest of these whines happened tonight while I was in the Rome 2 menu screen. Quite frankly, the noise is very irritating.

What is going on? Is there a way to fix it?

Thank you for taking the time to read this message. I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say about this.

-Dan
Edit: My PSU is a corsair 600w

It's the graphics card coil whine. This is common for many cards and not fixable (lubricating graphics card fans can sometimes help but tends to void warranty). If it annoys you too much you can try and get it replaced. This is not bad for your card at all, and no damage has or will be done.

It sucks that there is no way to fix it. Its pretty bad on some games. Especially in the Rome 2 menu. Fug.
