I'v been looking to replace my current 27'' monitor, it's a glossy one and the reflection is just too bad, so i'm looking to buy matte monitor this time, also 27''.
I wanted to go for 2560x1440, but the price jump is just too big, is it really worth it? other then that i just want it to be good, not overly expensive. Good respond times and all of that. My budges is around 700-800$ give or take a few.

I know that asus have good gaming monitors, what do you think? I also prefer IPS
Thanks!

2560x1440? Make sure that your rig (especially your GPU) can handle games properly with such resolution.
If your rig can handle such resolution, going 2560x1440 is definitely worth it compared to 1080 on 27".

Regarding IPS for gaming.
Some IPS panel types nowadays can be used for gaming since they are not that slow anymore but for some people those IPS monitors are still too slow.
For me, I am gaming on Dell U2412M IPS panel and I do not see the difference to fast TN panels.
It is better that you look at those monitors you want with your own eyes before buying.

Yes, ASUS makes good gaming monitors.

My rig is Intel i7-4790, GTX770, 16gb RAM, Windows 7,

But anyway, there's a poor variety with Asus monitors in my country, we do have the PG278Q , but that's very, VERY expensive. I only want to change a monitor to get a matte one, so i thought maybe ill upgrade the resolution too but seeing the prices i'm gonna pass. (what i'm using now is Dell S2740L), i think i'll go for another Dell.

What about Dell UltraSharp U2713HM? it's 1440 and cheaper then the Asus PG278Q

Your rig can handle 1440 for most games (some will require SLI), so no need to worry.
Well..U2713HM is a bit slow for some people since it is IPS
PG278Q is a lot faster and equiped with nVidia G-Sync...this would be a lot better for gaming..the price is a bit painful tho'
My suggestion is..again...try to take a look at U2712HM with your own eyes to see if it is good enough for you.
