If you shut down the PC in time before any current could be redirected on the GPU through the water, chances should be good that nothing critical happened. It is important to let your electrical equipment dry for a longer time of period (at least 24 hours) before attempting turning it on again since you want to make sure that no fluids are left inside the electrical components.
When you say nothing happens, does that mean that the PC won't turn on at all or that you can't get a signal on your screen?

elpida is a maker of vram chips... theres still probably some water underneath the vram package. best thing to do is remove the card and let it dry properly for a couple of days or a week in someplace warm and dry... (or use a hairdryer if you're in a hurry :) )

It might have damaged the card already though, or not. Can't be certain at this point.

edit heh busy thread :D

you have some pretty beefy hairdryers over there :DD
You'd need something like 220c to melt the lead free solders they use these days, which sounds quite a lot for a hairdryer...

edit or maybe ours is neutered for safety or something lol

And what brand is your motherboard? One short beep can mean a couple of things dending on the brand. Everything from "everything's OK" to "Memory failure"... Again make sure you have dried the card thoroughly before proceeding.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet then :)... And no we don't have hair dryers reaching those temperatures over here. I have no idea what a hair dryer can reach for temperatures but I've seen some old one getting really hot but probably around that area :D
