I was trying to make the cheapest possible computer on PCpartpicker.com for fun and I wanted to know how bad it would be. On a scale from "Windows 8" to "JackSepticEye" (Windows 8 being awful and JackSepticEye being boss), what would it be?

Yea I wouldn't buy that plus is the 1x1GB ram not flawed by modern operating systems need more than 1gb

Put a lightweight Linux distro on this and you would have a blazing fast machine for basic browsing and video playback.

Would just go out and buy an AMD E series board in that case. Just add ram. Maybe an Intel BGA board, but those are usually pretty expensive.

It will he passable with lxde or a super lightweight Linux but certainly not blazing fast.

Here, you could make an even crappier machine for even less:

Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz - $3.00
Asus P4GV-LA Intel 845gv Socket-478 Micro-Atx Motherboard - $29.99 (with integrated video!)
Micron 1GB 2X512MB PC 2100 266mhz ddr 184-pin desktop memory - $4.99
Western Digital WD800BB 80GB UDMA/100 7200RPM 2MB IDE Hard Drive - $9.99
Logisys CS206BK ATX Mid Tower Case w/480W Power Supply - $29.99

Total: $77.96

I guess you could throw a CPU fan on there if you wanted to overclock it, but for now, why even bother; they're only $3.
