So i've deiced i'm going to start recording and uploading gameplay videos to youtube but i'm having a huge, crippling problem. Right, i'm going to use minecraft as an example, so, when i play minecraft without recording i usually have 100-120 fps at all times but when i record it drops drastically to about 20 fps. I have a idea that it's my hard drive but want confimation before i spend £60 on a new one.

Specs;
CPU - intel core 2 quad q8300
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450
HDD - 2* 290gb (Sorry don't know nor can find RPM)
RAM - 2* 4gb

P.S. I record my stuff on a diffent hard drive to the one im playing a game on.

You either have a HDD problem or something is throttling in your computer I would say it is either the GTS 450 or the CPU.

I have noticed if I have 200 FPS in a game fraps may only record 70fps I'm not sure if it removes extra un neeeded screen or if it isn't capable of recording them

I don't see how it could be my gtu; its driver are fully up to date and all the cores in my cpu are unparked

Your system is pretty dated, so that isn't doing you any favors. Full to nearly full hdd isn't helping either.
