Hello,
I've built my first computer a while ago and everything seemed to be fine the first couple of weeks. About a month after that I've encountered some freezing of the system. This usually happens when running games (that's what I do mostly), but also happens when I'm just browsing the web using chrome or watching videos using VLC. What happens is that suddenly the screen just freezes and doesn't respond to any input at all. Some applications I have running still keep on working, like teamspeak or music I'm playing in the background (I can even keep on talking with people). Sound from games usually starts looping.

On average this happens once a day and is getting really annoying now. I'm not really sure what causes it. I've monitored my CPU temps with RealTemp which are just fine (around 40-50 °C when gaming) and I've tested my GPU with FurMark. Any help on this will be very appreciated.

My specs are:
CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8gb (2x4gb)
PSU: Cooler Master V650 Semi-Modular
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO Basic
HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003
GPU: GTX 770 Gaming
MOBO: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
HSF: Zalman CNPS10X Performa
Case: Cooler Master Silencio 652

I'm using windows 8.1

i don't know if this is relevant, but i heard that Chrome has some problem with hardware accelerated computing causing computer to freeze from time to time especially when watching a video. Right click on your video player, select properties and uncheck hardware acceleration.

I could disable hardware acceleration on chrome I guess, but I don't think this will solve the problem since the freezing also occurs without chrome running.
