Hi,

I just want to make sure that it is now safe to go for EVGA 970's with ACX 2.0.

I'm planning to buy 2 of them for my very first new build but some people claims that they still have heating issues obviously without any sort of proof.

Is it safe to go for those cards? They are the fastest 970's on the market atm, this is basically a main reason I prefer them over others as long as they got rid of all the issues they had in the past which is still a question.

Thanks

More about : evga gtx 970 ssc acx

Until they are tested, we won't know.

Are you playing at 4k? with two 970s. I'm personally getting either Asus STIX or Palit Jetstream 970. EVGA make very good cards you should be fine.

not too good of a review rating here
''The power delivery is the best of any here; it's a 6+2 design. Further, MSI uses its own improved components for both the GPU and the memory power phases.''

I've read most recent reviews done by card owners (your link) and haven't found any bad ones. All the owners are saying that they don't have any heating issues.
In fact, your link is for an older version of evga 970 card that comes with ACX 1.0 but not a newer ACX 2.0 version.

MSI clock speeds are lower compared to the ones EVGA offers. MSI base clock 1140 mhz / boost 1279 mhz compared to EVGA SSC base 1190 mhz / boost 1342 mhz. NOTE: the price is about the same (+/- 5%)

That's exactly what I always were thinking about EVGA but after seeing many people advising not to buy them I got confused. This is a reason for this thread.

They make good cards that's true. But they are having issues right now. I'm sure they can get resolved but I would wait until that's confirmed.

EVGA claims that all heating issues are resolved with ACX 2.0 and we haven't heard of any issues from ACX 2.0 card owners therefore can we assume that there is no issues with most recent EVGA 970 cards? :) )

BTW, even if there is an issue with a card can't we just return it to manufacturer within 1 year?

ok I see now the acx 2.0 is redesigned with a plate over the tubes -- I guess thing like this is why I shy away from first release stuff and prefer to give time for things like this to get worked out

I'm glad they have sorted it out as FTW version will be available for the same price as SSC on scan.co.uk in 7 days :)

I just leave this here. That is a review of the ACX2 card. It seems EVGA is being sneaky with which ones actually have the plate and which do not.

I would not buy an ACX2.0 card in case you get one that has been sitting on the shelf for a while and has the junk cooler.

You should be fine as long as you get FTW version which has just released in the UK.
