Hello everyone.

I started my job for a couple of months and after settling all up with new house and stuff i saved some money for my first gaming PC that I had in mind to do once I could do it by my own.

Its something not easy to do when we dont have the money required and when we start to have our own and save specifically for this purpose we want everything to be perfect and, ofc, to last a good amount of time (although im aware of high end technology today, old school tomorrow).

I saved around 2k £ (whilling to spend some more if its has a trully benefit in it) for my first pc gaming.

Im not an expert, i try to read as much as i can and look into things as much as I can, but I may be doing something dumb I just wanna make sure everything will be done the right way.

(Sorry for bad writting and for the long introduction)

My plan is this:

Mouse I have since I use my laptop for gaming and headset too.

I plan to overclock the cpu for the 4.5/4.6 gHz and has u can see in my build, it will be for 4k gaming.

Please feel free if i missed something to tell me and if it can be improved a lot with a little more budget, or if I can get the some performance and "future proofness" with lower budget, to point that out to me.

Cheers to everyone,

TMiguel

This would be better, and if you can save up some more money for a cheaper 4K monitor, it would be the best:

The PSU has better bang for the buck
You DO NOT need a Maximus VII Hero board, the Ranger is fine
You do NOT need a CLC kit, the Noctua cooler will cool quieter and equally, if not better
You do NOT need 16 GB of RAM, but you can add 8 GB more if you wish
You can get a 256 GB SSD for the cheaper than your 120GB SSD
Toshiba drives are crap, my father had one and it broke in a few weeks
If you have 2000 pounds to spend, the 980 is the card for you
Youc an get the 500D if you want, but keep in mind that the case I chose is bigger and can accomodate more stuff

Agreed with Zeyu, on all points. Although the 2x970s will get you playable framerates, you'd probably have to lower some settings at 4K.

One note, I'm not sure that Trident RAM would fit under the Noctua cooler. If you go with that cooler, grab RAM without big heatsyncs (they don't do anything anyway). Crucial, Kingston, and G.skill all have lower heatsync options.

Hey there and im glad someone wasted a bit of your time with me and helping me out. For real guys thank you in advance.

The PSU I totally believe for the price, amount of Watts provided and power efficiency given, that is worth but lets face it, if I will not use all of it, why would I "overkill" with power my pc computer for more money and more energy spent on the long run (electricity costs money too on the end of the month) and pay more money for it when with less money, same cost efficiency and less energy spent i get the same energy for the system with not being short in any way since 850w is more then enough? Just wondering...

CPU cooler + Case: I trully believe and please correct me if im wrong, with a OC CPU that I totally intend to do, the cooler that you suggested is known to be less effective as the one I picked, and kinda of blows my concept of airflow in the case that I picked for it (i know you suggested another one but I'll get there). I believe I can provide a great airflow on the 500r and with h100i with the right location of the fans and that cooler (noctua) will get the inside of the case bulky, on a system with already 2 GPUs... I can provide a clean environment inside the case for + 14 pounds (h100i) and with the - 13 pounds of the case I picked that fully supports the system I choose. I prefer to spare on the case and spend on the cooler that will be better for OC'd CPUs and have a better and clean environment inside the case to provide an optimal airflow. I lose 1 pound here but I see more benefit in it.

The motherboard I picked because I read that offers me better tools to control the overcloking procedures and the multi fans control too, thats the reason why I picked hero instead of ranger but if i get what I need for the OC and fan control that I'll set up then ill probably get the cheaper one.

The 16GB of ram is because I saw games like Watch Dogs consuming 4-6GB of ram and i dont want to get it overused when I be playing with 4k with some music running in the back ground + streaming + some work that ill be doing. I currently find myself using 85% when playing and having some apps running in background with 8gb on my laptop so thats why i want to play safe on this one. I picked the Corsair Vengeance ones cause they are red and go with the white+red theme of my custom build. If I go for the G.Skill ones they will be more expensive at 16GB so I think I'll stick with the Corsair ones unless they really suck =D

The storage I completely acknowledge that i didn't look much into and went for the "basic thing" but you offered me a cheaper and apparently better solution and I will follow you on that one with pleasure =D

On the GPU I chose the 970 SLI cause of the cost efficiency presented on the reviews that i read saying that can handle the most recent games in 4k and ultra settings (above 60fps with watch dogs needing to lower the AA on that to be above 50fps). That said, im more then happy to spare 400 pounds on GPU cards and have a great monitor (not big of a choice if we look for one with 4k res and working at 60 mHz) and have less energy consumption. The Cards are almost 50% less the ones you adviced (around 275 for 480 pounds), perform 12% less then the 980 SLI (i assume if i OC them it will be even less) and they consume less energy too so I dont know if the 980 ones are worth the 400 pounds difference that I can use on monitor.

The last concern come to the CPU. CPU I picked the i7 cause of the reviews about great gaming performance, better for 4k gaming and prone for OC with ease and in my head I compare to i5 with stock of 3.5 and i7 with stock of 4.0 and I go for the expensive one and believing that in a couple of years I dont need to worry about CPU but if u tell me that i can have that i5 running at 4.5 with the same ease of OC (like 1.25vcore for example) and that will be has future proof as the i7 is and in that time will perfectly handle my 4k gaming in the next years then i will obviously pick the cheaper choice.

Once more, i have everything thought in my head but if you tell me why i be better served with other stuff i will happily change my set up, specially if I get more money in my wallet in the end =D

OK, take a look:

1, I took into account your needs. You can have the CPU, cooler and mobo you want, but note that you can save money by going with my build.
2, 8 GB of RAM will largely be sufficient for 4K, especially since you don't have to play at Ultra with AA at the max.
3, I got you better GPUs than the Twin Frozrs
4, If you're going with Obsidian, at least get the 750D as it already havs 3 140mm fans installed and it'll give you plenty of space
5, The PSU I chose is better as it's a Tier 1 unit, it has 10 watts more:) and it has better efficiency
6, you can save more than 50 pounds on the monitor and that's what i did to compensate for the changes I made

I personalty would go with zeyuanfu build, is more then perfect for gaming, now days cpus are not a problem for most games and gfx configuration. I'm also considering a 750d as my case and the extra space it will provide will be extremely beneficial for cooling and installation, especially with a SLi setup. I choose the rm850 psu on my thread as well but I read in several places that there are better solution for less and evga was one of the most popular chooses.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but all else even, a 1000W PSU won't cost you anymore than a 850W PSU in energy, if the system is only using say, 700W. Actually, the efficiency rating (80+ Platinum) probably has more to do with how much energy you'll draw, along with how stable you're overclocks will be.

2nd, the 100i radiator will be much louder than the Noctua, and will not keep the mobo and surrounding parts (GPUs) as cool. It's your call, but I actually own one, in a Carbide 500R, with 2 GPUs in SLI, and they fit fine:

1000w PSU is overkill for a system that won't even use 750w..... Even overclocked a 4690k with GTX 980 in sli probably wouldn't use more than about 650w anyway.

Great answers i got here and they oppened my eyes for some things...

I apreciate all the feedback you guys gave me. The answer from zeyuanfu was the closest to my needs and i found myself getting what I need with less =)

Ill do a background check on every single price on stores but that will definitely be the things ill chase for.

Rapajez thank you for you inside note with noctua. Still seems bulky, but better than i was expected to be honestly xD
