I need a really good DSL modem that hooks up with my Phone Line DSL Internet. It needs to have Wi-Fi and my budget is around $200-$250 dollars. Where the internet hooks into it must be for a phone line. Im having trouble finding one. I want a fast one for streaming video and Playing online games on my consoles and PC. Thanks

Oh yeah, been there. Like I said though, DSL is just barely better than dial up if you are very far out. There is not much you can do, unfortunately, save moving!

Call your ISP. They will tell you whats compatible with their network. Most also have the option for you to buy the modem from them.

Also, you said you want a fast one.... The speed of the modem is not going to help your bandwidth. That is going to be something your ISP has to offer you. You can get the best modem in the world but your ISP can still offer you a low amount of bandwidth.

If your dsl speeds are like what they are here, it would struggle with doing even 720p netflix.

Where I am at, they advertise up to 12mbps but it is really more like 7mbps and upload is in the kilo bytes per second (not good for gaming). If you pay an insane $125 a month they can bond 2 phone lines to get you 20mbps (or you could pay $50/mo for cable for the same 20mbps).

DSL can be a good solution if you are very close to the supplier, or main switch. The problem with DSL is that the signal degrades rapidly over distance. If you are 7 miles from the main switch, your speeds may not be any better than dial-up! DSL is also heavily affected by how many people are on the line.
I used to live 800 feet from the phone company, and my DSL speed was actually quite good, very close to what they advertised most of the time. I moved only a few blocks further away and ended up going to cable because the DSL speed dropped so badly. Anyway, the modem really has little to do with it, its all about your ISP, distance to them, and how many people are on the same line. Condition of the line its self also has a big impact.

This DSL option I have is my ONLY option. They wont run cable out here where I live and there are no other ISPs to choose from. I live out in the country so this is all I can get. I dont usually have much problem with my games. I lag a little every now and then but its not too bad. I can play. Its my download speeds that are pathetic. If Im really lucky I can download files at around 200-250KB/S. You can imagine my frustration while waiting on a large gaming file to download. It just sucks.
