An event that may be of interest, just before the PC got rebooted:
A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Internal Unclassified Error
Processor ID: 6

The details view of this entry contains further information

Additional note: Sometimes after such a crash/BSOD, the system reboots and takes ages to bootup, the mouse stutters and windows respond with a huge latency.
On a reboot again, things get back to normal

Hello,

It appears this is a hardware issue; in particular, I suspect the CPU or GPU.

First, check your computer's temperatures, using Speedfan.

Are you overclocking at all? If so, reset to stock settings.

Finally run a couple of hardware tests:

RAM: RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Furmark: Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

I digged down further and the related Process ID points to BFE (windows firewall). I have a norton AV suite installed. Could that create a conflict?

It will conflict if windows firewall is still enabled, (and if Nortons includes a firewall), but that stop error can mean the CPU is either overclocked, overheating, or faulty

I am also getting 124 error BSODs - the only similarity I can see is we're both using using a Gigabyte Z97 Mobos. Not sure if there might be something down in the BIOS, maybe?
