AC4 has always run on maxed setts on my ASUS HD 7870 DIRECT CU II 2 GB, i5 750 2.66Ghz, 8 GB RAM Rig before. Now after a long time today I tried playing on my PC. I started, restarted(just to be sure) AC4 and experienced how much it was lagging. Now there's another thing unusual that I've noticed, there used to be a download prompt before for a near to 5 GB patch for the game that I've always denied, it didn't happen this time. I know for sure it was never downloaded, but the game ran online still. Normally I'd have to play it offline denying the patch. Also there were a few mods especially lighting overhaul (I talk about Lighting Overhauls especially because AC4 appeared unnaturally bright in sum areas today) ones that I'd installed for my other games before I played AC4 today. They were: for DS2: GEM and gedosato. Skyrim: RCRN AE. GTA4: SweetFX and ICE 3.0. I'm not sure what else. I'd gone quite crazy modding. And lastly I installed the latest AMD Driver package for my card on my Win 7 64bit. So my concern isn't for AC4 solely but I'm also afraid any future game might be affected by the same problem. Please Help.

Any kind of lag being brought to you in a game is either caused by how you store your content and hardware or how good your internet connection is. If you do not have enough room in your system's hard drive then there can be a large amount of lag caused since I've had the same problem when I record for my channel. If you are running out of room on your hard drive and want to get more room, you can either just delete useless shit on the hard drive that you don't want anymore or purchase a new one that can be used as an external hard drive and use it with the original simultaneously.

It solved the download prompt problem and I think the lagging to an extent also. But I remembered after changing the graphics options in the game that it didn't ever run on all setts maxed. My mistake but thanks!
