After purchasing a new GPU (XFX Radeon R9 270x)

When seated correctly in the motherboard the VGA LED is a solid red, there also appears to be no power going to the card as the fans aren't powering up...

Motherboard is an ASUS M5a97

The card gets power, the fans function but still no display. Has been tried in both pci-e slots.

This may sound stupid, but you DO have both power sockets on the GPU plugged in right?
