I recently bought a sound card for my computer (Creative Audigy Fx). I bought it becuase I wanted better sound than onboard. But the problem is that it is picking up some coil whine from my GPU, and I can somehow hear it through my headset (Really, Really annoying!) I believe its some kind of EMI. But the thing is I had a really bad sound card in my pc a couple of months ago and there was no squeling sound at all! So why is the new sound card picking up the noise?

So the thing is I want some suggestions wheter I should buy a new sound card, and pray that the sound will stop. Also should I get one of those cards with the EMI shield or is it really just for the fancy look?
Also an external sound card might do the job?

I have only used ASUS cards in the past and liked them a lot. I had onboard Creative SB and liked it the best. It was more air noise, but it sounded much clearer than my past cards. My next one will be external from Creative and that is what I recommend to keep the efi noise down. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... I like this one, but they have a few others ranging in price.

You should be okay. It depends on your amplifier, speakers and also the source material too.
