I installed a new SSD and put Win 7 on it without my old HDD in PC. But i left all the files on my HDD including old WIN 7. After the OS installed and i shut it down it didnt. I ended up turning my surge protector off back on then you could hear the pc get power and it worked. So, now a few days later i wake up and pc is off. I reset the surge protector and changed the power cord, and once again you could hear it get power and it turned on.

I recently installed a new GPU AMD R9 285, but the problem didnt start till i installed SSD.

Could it be me not formating the old HDD?

Any thoughts to my problem would be appreciated.

Solution
Hi there DEADPOOL_515,

My suggestion is that it is something related to the power supply rather than to the HDD. Does you PSU provide enough Wattage for the new new components. You could also try another power socket.
You can try to boot without the HDD and see if that will happen. After that you can try booting with only the HDD attached. This way you can rule out some of the components as a cause of the issue.

Hope this will help,
