Hi guys. I've installed Rome 2 , and I have trouble with FPS and poor graphics. I tried it out at "ultra", and I got about 14 fps in the benchmark video, then I switched to "very high" and there was little to no change, so I changed to "high" and I got 28 fps, which is more or less acceptable for me, but the problem is that it looks f****** awful! I can't believe they call that "high"...So I'm wondering if the game has extremely low optimization, if my build is extremely bad, or if my CPU or GPU are somehow parked. Any help is appreciated.

My specs are the following:

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5 GHZ 6-core
CPU Cooler: none that I know of
Motherboard: ASUS M5A78L-MLX3
Memory: Kingston 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1600 240-Pin DIMM
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 7750 2GB DDR3
Power Supply: Pixxo Jaguar PW 600Watts

Thanks.

What happens if you keep the same setting but lower the resolution?

I think the game is also poorly optimized.

Assuming you're talking about the latest Rome they released this year or last year.

I lowered the resolution to 1776x1000 and it averaged 32 fps, but I'm not convinced that's the best solution. I might try it if there is no other choice though, so thanks for that. Also, James Mason, I'm talking about Rome 2 Total War.

Yeah, that one was kinda poorly put together.
But your 7750 isn't necessarily a good card, and Rome 2 isn't that welll optimized.

I didn't ask so you can get better performance by playing at a lower resolution. It was to see whether your CPU was bottlenecking or not. If at the same quality settings you get the same framerate at both a high and low resolution, it's generally a CPU bottleneck. But since your framerate went up, the issue must be somewhere else.

Yes, and I don't even like it. I played about a year ago and thought it was the worst TW so far, but I decided to give it a second chance now. I'm waiting to the end of this year to upgrade my GPU, because I'm pretty sure prices will drop with the announcement of the new generation GPUs. What do you think of my FX-6300 though?

I guess it's just a combination of my GPU not being all that great and the game having poor optimization. Although it may have something to do with the graphic design of the game itself, because I can play Empire and Napoleon at good FPS and they look way better than this piece of crap.
