High-End sound card: Yes or NO?

So my problem is pretty simple: I enjoy good sound when I am listening to music and/or playing games. I own the 5.1 Logitech z506 speakers which I can say I am pretty satisfied with. BUT! I know I can have better sound quality. Especially when it comes to music (fellow metalheads will understand) I want to feel chills when I am turning on the volume! So I was thinking of buying a nice soundcard for my system. I am currently using the standart Realtek chipset and drivers that came with my Sabertooth 990FX. I was looking at the Creative Soundblaster Z but before making any rush decisions, could anyone tell me, well, if it is worth it? Are there cheaper sound cards that would give me similar results? Or even a simple software that will improve my sound quality without me having to spend 80-something euros for the SB Z? If anyone had the same dilemmas and solved them, please, give me your lights! Thanks in advance!

I have a older logitech 5.1 system. I paired it with a nice sound card at first.

Now I just use the on board sound. Did not even notice a difference.

So for me, it would be a NO.

Better speakers will make a louder difference than a high end soundcard.

IMHO you have to get pretty high priced speaker (and amplifier) before a soundcard will make much of a difference to the audio quality.

I recommend instead picking up a set of bookshelf speakers and a decent used receiver at pawn shop. You'll see a massive difference compared to using those Logitech speakers, even without buying an expensive sound card.
