My Asus Sabertooth MB failed and Asus either repaired or replaced it (I think replaced because it came back with the little BIOS battery). I put everything back (Win7 pro, i7 processor) together and now the computer won't boot: says "install boot media". I put the OEM Win7 disk in and have been running repair for hours with no joy.

The system was set up with RAID5 on four 500 MB HDD. Tried to recover from a disk image but windows said I have excluded the wrong disks (didn't put check mark on any-no exclusion); a different Acronis disk image says the backup is not valid.

Any ideas other than complete reinstall? I don't have all the original disks to some needed programs and hoped disk image would save me. Apparently not.

Thanks

Did you set the sata ports to raid mode in the bios? Once you do that then save and exit and when it reboots enter the raid bios andmake sure your old array is recognized. I hope you didnt mess anything up trying to run a repair on it before it was an array again...

Wow, thanks very much. I had not set the SATA ports to raid but did so after reding your replay. That did the trick. The machine started right up and the raid didn't have to rebuild itself. Have a great evening!
