Sony Vaio F-series wifi switch won't work after R&R of cover for cleaning

Hi!

I finally pulled the cover off my Sony Vaio VPCF13RFX to clean the fan, upon putting it back together the wifi was "off" (red X on the wifi indicator). I hit the switch on the front, nothing. I pulled the cover back off to look at the switch on the board / plastic slider mechanical interface... there isn't one :( . It appears to be an opto (?) switch and the trigger that was in the plastic slider is no more...at least this is how I think it works.

I looked in BIOS but couldn't find anything relating to the wifi (I may have missed something) with the hope of overriding the switch.

I looked under network and sharing / adapter settings, right clicked on all the wireless components and everything is enabled (could only chose 'disable' from the menu.)

I looked online for a replacement switch to no avail. Is there a hack to trick the switch into the on "position"?

I seem to have one of a very few of these laptops since I find nothing that even hints at this model's wifi switch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Jeff
