Cat6 Cable problems, or just plain ethernet cable problem

Alright, so I had just built a new pc, everything works lovely, and I had had it plugged in with a cat5 in another room close to the router as it was my testing area for when building said computer, internet works and was able to play any online game or do long downloads.

Fast forward to now, just got my 50ft Cat6 UTP Patch Cable, and have it wired through the walls into my desired room. Happy that I finally had the cable wired i moved my PC into the room got it all set up, and seemingly the cat6 cable is not being recognized. (No I did not test it on the PC before wiring as I had tested it on the Xbox360 and the cable worked fine) SO I figure, hey, maybe my drivers aren't updated, so I plug the CAT6 cable into my PS3.....annnd it does not see the ethernet cable. Ok, now I was getting annoyed as it took so long to wire and the such, but I had one last test.

I took out my laptop and turned on airplane mode to disable wireless connections and plugged in the cat 6 cable. Boom, it's working in my laptop. OK, this is weird. I tried the Desktop again, no dice, tried the ps3 again, no dice.

Could any of you fine gentleman help a poor guy out? I'd like to know if it's a wire issue before I go out and buy anew one.

You say it is a path lead, but then you talk about wiring it through the walls.
Have you put RJ-45 jacks on the walls and wired them with cat6 cable, or do you just have a patch lead hanging out of the wall?
If you wired any of the jacks yourself, what wiring diagram did you follow?

No, nothing special like putting jacks through the walls, I apologize if I wasn't clear. It was just a 50foot cat6 ethernet cable strung through the walls to reach into my room so the cable would not lay across the rug or hallway.

Cat 5e and Cat 6 are both rated for gigabit ethernet up to 100m, so you should be fine with either of these.
When you were putting it in the walls, have you put it next to any power cables or RF cables for your television antenna?
Do you think you may have damaged the cable at all (kinks or cuts)?

omg, am I such a simpleton that I perhaps bought a patch cable thinking it worked as a normal ethernet cable, and now i will need a RJ-45 female-female to convert it to a normal cable or the such?

I have checked the cable and it seems to be fine, no cuts anywhere. i did think perhaps the tape I put over the end to protect it while going through the wall may have hurt it, but it looks fine. No, in fact I took out the antenna cable just for that reason since i didn't use it for anything but the Genesis.

The cable works fine with my laptop though is whats really strange.

By the way, this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YKX6PY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

is the cable I am using to connect the Router to my Desktop.

Would I have to get something like this, http://www.amazon.com/Britta-Products-271710-Coupler-Straight/dp/B000BSLW8U/ref=pd_bxgy_pc_img_y

Because of the wire I chose? (i'm beginning to grasp at straws.)

There are two types of connection, straight or cross over.
To connect a PC or the PS3 to the router you need a straight cable.
To connect two PCs together directly, you need a cross over cable.
Laptops typically auto-detect and work with either.

You are trying to connect a PC to the router right?
If you look at the ends of the patch lead you should be able to see the coloured wires.
Are these the same on both ends (e.g. pin3 on one is the same colour as pin3 on the other end)?

One looks to be the colors from left to right, orange blue green orange, but the other seems to look like, ornage, green blue blue green orange,

But it is a bit difficult to see the colors even with a small flashlight, but they don't seem to match up perfectly .

Please confirm that you are trying to connect the PC to the router using this cable.
The amazon add doesn't say it is a cross over so it should be straight through.
The only way the connector you have linked might help is if you use a cross over cable between the PC and the connector. If your long path lead is a cross over and you want a straight cable, the second cross over cable will cross it back.

When you are connecting all these devices, what is on the other end of the cable? Is it the router?

Yes, going from the router, towards the Desktop/Laptop/PC, will now see about removing it through the wall or test my Xbox360 again, will post results.

Make sure you are connecting to a standard port on the router too, not an uplink or WAN port if it has these.

It is now no longer working on my Xbox360, is there some sort of crazy chance that the cable got damaged in some way which is not visually there as to make the cable no longer work on any and all systems except for my laptop?

It is now connected to where myworking cable would go for the where the desktop does go online, to which I am posting on right now. This short 25 foot cable works like a breeze, but has never been fandangled through walls, so perhaps it just got damaged, ut laptop still works it somehow

I just can't get it out of my head that the cable is working well for my laptop, looking at it now I even see the solid blue LED and blinking red/orange LED, but when I plugged it into my desktop it did not flash any LED's whatsoever. The ps3 and 360 do not have LEDs.

Alright got something new. I plugged in the Desktop and watched for the LED's as it booted up, I noticed that it was blinking orange/red while it began to boot, but as soon as windows began to boot the blinking LED on the ethernet disappeared. I am going to try setting the bios to default

Ok, that was strange now. I left it unplugged and off overnight, plugged it in this morning and it said it was connected, but then leaving hte problem that even though it said connected, no programs or features could access anything internet based. I unpluged it and pluggged it back in, and it no longer was able to connect or at least say connected. So was that lil bit of hope a fluke?
