Hey folks,
I'll be upgrading my GFX card and have decided on the Sapphire Dual-X R9 280, however I'm unsure if it will fit in my case. The width of the card is fine, as is the length (at least as far as avoiding wires or the hard-drive cage). Its thickness is what concerns me (at 1.3 inches), especially as it approaches both my audio lines in/out box as well as my memory slots/sticks. As long as it passes my memory sticks, it should otherwise be unimpeded. This is where I need your help:
I'm not sure how far from the PCI-E x16 slot the body of the graphics card will stick out, and I'm afraid this is key to choosing a card that fits.
Here's a link to my PC specs:
HP Pavilion p6230y
Here's a link to my motherboard specs:
H-RS880-uATX (Aloe) motherboard
Here is an image I created of my motherboard layout diagramming areas of concern as well as scale:
Keep in mind, there are memory sticks in the memory slots that jut out from the slots about a 1/2 inch to 1 inch, potentially blocking any graphics card (plugged into the PCI-E slot) that's longer than around 7 inches and whose body hovers under a 1/2 inch to 1 inch from its slot.
Also of concern is the box that holds the audio lines in/out, as it seems it might get in the way of the 1.3 inch thickness of the R9 280 (which is dual slot) as it fastens to the back of the case.
If the R9 280 doesn't fit properly past my memory sticks, then I'll be settling for the EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti Superclocked, however, the audio lines in/out box will still be of concern since the 750 Ti is also dual slot.
Any insight/advice on this?
Many thanks ahead of time!
