Hi Guys i just bought this PSU : Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 720w

I'm getting a 970GTX from MSI or ASUS (haven't decided yet) so i'm wondering if this PSU will be able to run a SLI of 970's

The rest of the build i'm planning to get
i7 4790K (OC in future)
ASUS Z97 Maximus HERO
16GB DDR3 2400MHZ
1TB Caviar Green
2x7200HDD in the future
ADATA XPG 900 128Go

It's not the best PSU in the world,I wouldn't use it.
Sell it if you can and get an EVGA G2 750W.

That's a tier 3 PSU.

I would neither trust it to power two top-tier graphics cards nor to overclock when you will increase the load on your PSU substantially.

Look for something in the 1,000W-1200W range. and for goodness sake, choose a tier 1 or 2 make of PSU.

He wants to drive 2 GPUs and overclock. I know the new Nvidia range has lower power requirements, but you think 750 W will cover it?

It's not the best.It may be enough for 1xGTX 970,but it is NOT gonna be enough for 2xGTX 970. ;)
@Karsten75 Why the hell 1200W for GTX 970 setup? 750W is enough.

I like to over-provision my PSUs. :)

According to EVGA each GTX 790 draws 145W. they recommend a singe-card system to have 500W. Add the 145 for a 2nd PSU and you are at 645W. that leaves 95W for overclocking.

I'll adjust my estimate to 850W - 1,000W :)

Maybe 850W,but anything over that is overkill.

My Silent Pro M2 is in the Tier three - Meets standard ATX specifications, though closer to the edges than Tier two units. These are still solid units, which still supply stable power to your system, though not ideal for serious overclocking

It'll be enough for one GTX 970.

No it's a barely adequate PSU. Change it before you start overclocking. and next time ask *before* you buy stuff. It's uncommon to buy first and then ask afterwards. All it can do is lead to buyer's remorse.

i wanted a 650V from Cooler Master but i found a used M2 720W i bought it half the price from a store so it was a good deal because i need that extra money for my build i hope i didn't do anything wrong

No,no,you didn't do anything wrong.
I would use the CM Silent Pro M2 for a while with ONE GTX 970,and when you save some money, get an EVGA G2 750W or 850W and you can safely use the second GTX 970. :)

Again,it'll suffice for one 970,get a better PSU for 2x970 and you'll be good to go.
Good luck,m8.
Make sure to choose a solution. ;)
