Hello... with the good sticks in go into your BIO's and set your memory for "Single Channel" operation, save settings and exit. Try the single 8gb stick only and see if it boots.
You need to download the MB PDF to read about memory install options and placement. http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P5G41TM_LX/HelpDesk...

Hello... Ok, then you must need 2 sticks inserted at all times and have Dual channel MODE operation only on your MB.

Hello... Well... OK good it is auto detecting then BIO's... Not all ram is wired the same... there are Double Sided and Single Sided, what does your manual say the type of RAM you can use?
Compatible with H67, P67, Z68, Z77, Z87 and H61 Intel chipsets, as well as A75, A87, A88, A89, A78 and E35 AMD chipsets is the Specs for the new ones... It is wired different than your MB. http://www.kingston.com/us/hyperx/memory/fury

Hello... See, it won't read 8gb sticks... Kingston Web site shows this
Compatible with H67, P67, Z68, Z77, Z87 and H61 Intel chipsets, as well as A75, A87, A88, A89, A78 and E35 AMD chipsets is the Specs for the new ones... It is wired different than your MB. http://www.kingston.com/us/hyperx/memory/fury
Your MAX for that MB is 2x4gb then... Unless there is a BIO's update that allows more... But that is not likely.
