So as the title states, I'm about to buy a 280x sapphire dual x oc 3gb. My concern is that my motherboard isn't high end. I'm not sure it will be able to run the 8350 + the 280x optimally. Can someone help me out here? Is it a bad idea to get the card on this board?

Solution
It will run it just fine.

Mostly "high end" motherboards overclock better and have extra features such as SLI support or that sort of thing.

Your power supply is of much more import, what exact model do you have?
I would not worry about adding any strong graphics card to your motherboard.
You would need a decent 600w psu to run it.

I do have a real concern about the card you listed, along with other R9-280X cards.
The newegg negative reviews from verified buyers are 45% negative(0 or 1 egg)

I suggest the GTX970 which is a stronger performer that is quieter and uses less power(500w).
You might pay a bit more, but it is an excellent value. They are in demand, so you may have to shop a bit.

Great, thank you for the help :)

Thanks for the recommendation but that's unfortunately out of my budget :(.. I wanted to go for a r9 270x vapor x as that was exactly within my budget but I got a good deal for this card. Any other cheaper options?

1. You should know better to trust user reviews.
2. I own 2 HD7950 Dual -X cards, they are based on exactly the same PCB, power delivery and cooler. Trust me, they are good.

Oh, I didn't realize it has so many issues. What are my options if I can't afford the 970?
