I recently bought a SSD, and I LOVE the quick boot, and all the other benefits. However, I would like to remove some unnecessary screens from the boot-up process. The screens in question are:
1) A Marvell RAID utility I used to have installed, but uninstalled from my OS after I upgraded my storage. Despite all traces of it being removed from Windows, it still shows up when I boot. (I currently have a 512gb Crucial MX100 SSD, a 2TB Toshiba HDD, and an old 1TB Western Digital HDD-which has Windows 8 installed, but I never boot up in Windows 8 anymore.)
This screen wastes 5-10 seconds during my boot.
2) The option to choose which operating system to start. I have Windows 7 installed on my SSD, and that's all I want to ever boot. For some reason, this screen ALSO shows OSs from Hard Drives that are no longer in my computer.
This screen wastes 30 seconds, if I'm not at the keyboard to press Enter.
Ok, so how can I remove both of these screens, thus shaving off valuable seconds from my boot time?
My MOBO is an ASUS Sabertooth X58 and my CPU is an i7 950 , which is currently overclocked to 3.8 GHz.
I'd like to continue working on my overclock, but that often requires quite a bit of rebooting, so I was hoping to streamline this process.
Note: I think that Motherboards was the proper category to post this under, but let me know if I should post it somewhere else.
