I've had my ASUS PCE-AC66 wireless adapter for about 3 months now, and I love it, but now it is causing me problems. I decided to update the drivers for it today, and now there is the annoying red X over the wireless connections icon. I assumed this was because the ASUS wireless utility had taken control of managing the wireless connections, however the utility wouldn't even detect the adapter at all.

So, I tried uninstalling the utility and the red X is still there. I tried rolling back the driver on the adapter, still no networks to connect to. I don't have system restore enabled. I know the problem is not with the network, because before updating my drivers my network was working, and I could also see my neighbor's network.

Any ideas on what I can do next?

Adapter: ASUS PCE-AC66
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Try uninstalling the adapter (physically, uninstall the drivers, then reinstall all
