Recently my system started hanging at cold startup. I have windows 8.1 pro 64bit installed. At startup it hangs with a light blue screen with no writing and then automatically reboots itself and after that everything is fine. Do I have a hardware issue or just a corrupt OS?

Windows 8.1 pro 64bit
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS IV GENE-Z/GEN3 MoBo
intel i7 2600 clocked at 3.4GHz CPU
16Gb of Corsair matched RAM
Corsair Pro Gold 850watt PSU
Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS HDD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX580 VGA
Fractal Design Arc Miditower ATX CASE

if the problem doesn't happens in safe mode then the problem is most likely recurred by a third party software which can be fixed by reinstalling windows.

make your system do some sleep/hibernate then wake cycles and see if you get the problem again.
common to have BIOS bugs and driver bugs that are exposed because of the windows 8.1 hybrid sleep functions.
Often they take many cycles of sleep and waking until people start to see problems. Then they get a bugcheck and the machine does a real full boot and the process goes again.

most often you have to update the BIOS and various 3rd party drivers for hardware on you machine to fix the issue.
