Alright, I did a rebuild of my PC to transfer cases, I ran into some problems but I got it up and running, main problem now is that it just isn't picking up my headset. My headset is a steelseries siberia V2 and it plugs in using jacks... Help? Have I forgotten something? Sorry if i've done something really obvious and bad but keep in mind i'm fairly new to this so please don't be too harsh :) any suggestions?

Right, is this the one labeled HD audio ? Or is it one that is with power switch reset switch hdd light etc?????

I feel dumb for asking that but i'd rather be safe than sorry

Nope not on the back either but i've tried with two headsets and neither of them work and it was working literally yesterday before the rebuild? :S

I just checked and it actually was AC'97... can you guide me through these 'driver adjustments'? :/

I tried this and it just said the device isn't plugged in and failed the troubleshooting?

You can also right click on the device and select Properties. Then update the driver manually.

All of the options are greyed out other than driver details?

I did but my computer didn't give me permission even as admin

Open up the motherboard's sound driver application; there should be a little icon for it in the System Tray. Hovering the mouse over it may say "Realtek...," "Sound Blaster...," or some such. Double click it to open it. There should be options to tell it how your jacks are configured.

Go to User Accounts, Manage another account and make sure of the you are the administrator and no one else. Otherwise you may have some malware.

If all else fails you can to a fresh install of the operating system (you can use the windows default audio driver) or down load the correct driver.
