I am trying to install Windows onto a USB drive (Note, not trying to make installation media, I mean actually installing Windows on a portable USB drive) using another USB drive. According to the installer, I have to plug in a drive with the drivers on it for it to recognize that the drive exists. My device that I want to install Windows to is a Kingston DataTraveler Mini 64GB and their site has no drivers for it to be seen. How do I go about doing this?

More about : installation usb

That path is fraught with tears and frustration.

I just realized, is the reason that it's so hard to do this because Windows is tied to the mobo of the computer, so moving it away from the computer that it was originally installed on would make it upset?

That's one of the reasons, yes.
