Hi I am a noob here and sorry for just jumping into the questions without an introduction! My name is jeff and have really found this forum a real source for knowledge and I need it since this is my first build!

I am planning out my first computer build and I have already purchased a motherboard which is a ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 , I would like to play games like COD Black Opps 2 and Skyrim, ect ect

I went to parts picker and have done some research from this sight about the best bang for the buck components without breaking the bank, this parts list i have created does not have a power supply choosing yet but could someone with pc building knowledge take a look at this setup and give me your opinions. thanks

Well first, for those games you wont need 16GB of RAM let alone 1866MHz so you can settle for 8GB at 1600MHz to cut down on RAM cost, the CPU is a good choice and the motherboard is great too. To get a lot more performance you'll need to overclock however (because you have brought an unlocked CPU with AMD's 990FX chipset on the motherboard) so getting 4GHz should be easy, pretty much making your CPU equal to a FX-8350. The GPU you have chosen is great of it's price and will play games far more demanding just Skyrim and CoD so those games will play maxed at 1080p with 60+ FPS. I hope this information helps :)

Also for this setup I would recommend a 600+ wattage power supply with a 80+ Bronze/Silver/Gold rating. There is no need to go out and buy a 1000 Watt PSU or anything crazy that some people will try to tell you that you need.

thanks alot this is great to hear that the ram and cpu is overkill! but I would like to think that the items would be somewhat future proof maybe!? The ram: I read that 8 is min requirement but then I would be looking into 2- 4gb sticks and then in the future if i wanted to upgrade the ram i would have to either get 2 more 4gb sticks for a total of 16,
so I was thinking that i would just go ahead and get the 2-8gb sticks and be set for a while.

I will have to learn how to overclock when I get all my items.

Also I was looking at the fractal Arc Midi R2 (Black) case, I liked the all black interior and the cable management, if I read correctly it looks like this asus m5a99fx mobo should fit? someone confirm this! if I read the specs right on the case it would except this mobo...
thx
