We picked up a virus a couple of weeks ago and rebuilt the computer using acer e recovery. Before we rebuilt and now after the hard drive is working/clicking excessively and is running a little sluggish. My question's are
1) would we still have the virus or is the hard drive failing.
2) If I have to replace the hard drive can I reinstall windows using previously made restore discs or will I have to buy a copy of Windows 7.
Thanks, Steve

1) the drive is failing
2) you could clone your laptop HDD to the new one....your just need an external case to put the new HDD in. then download a cloning software after that's finish swap the old HDD for a new one.

Thanks for the reply. Would the restore discs be as good as cloning?

yeah it would. but newer files after the restore disc was made will not be restored you have to re-download them again.
