I am currently sitting at 4 GB (DDR3 according to CPU-Z) and I have a couple questions regarding upgrading the RAM on my desktop. I commonly use my computer for gaming and such and have noticed that after installing windows 7 64-bit, the amount of physical memory being used is significantly higher.

First of all, I'm not sure exactly how much RAM I should be looking to add. Like I said, I'm currently at 4 GB worth and I do a fair amount of PC gaming so how much would be a good amount to add?

Finally, I have a question about installing the RAM after I've purchased it. Can I just plug it in to the slot on the motherboard and I'm good to go or is there some sort of software/BIOS that I'll need to install to get it up and running?

CPU is an Intel i7 3770K Ivy Bridge and the motherboard is an MSI H61M-P21(B3)(MS-7680)

With your CPU, might well be able to carry 1866 sticks in your combo...1600 would be the safe bet, though prices are pretty much the same, if me, I'd go 1866 - if you do and have problems give me a shout

Ok. Is there any particular brand you would recommend? Also would I be better getting off the dual sticks of RAM or just a single stick?

I'd prob go 2x4GB GSkill Ripjaws X (or their Sniper model) in 1866/9 or 1600/9
