Hey guys,

I have a 4790k r9 290 system and an xbox one and I'm looking to get a monitor to game on thats 27 inches. I also have 3x 24" 1080p monitors for productivity and AMD Eyefinity gaming, but I'm looking for a 1440p or higher monitor for single monitor gaming on both my xbox one and pc. My budget is ideally 500$-600$ but if there is one you highly recommend I could consider going a bit higher

Those Korean imports are rubbish. They are an overclocked IPS panel, but it doesn't have the response time to match the increased refresh rate. This image quality is poor and you have no hope of warranty.

If you want a 2560x1440, 120 Hz monitor, get the Asus ROG PG278Q. It is a fantastic monitor, but it is expensive.

In your price range you should be able to get a Dell U2713HM. This is an IPS monitor with great colour. There is a glow noticeable in the corners when viewing dark images, but you will get this with any IPS, PLS or AHVA monitor.
An alternative IPS monitor is the Asus PB278Q.

My other suggestion would be the BenQ BL3200PT. This is actually 32 inches 2560 x 1440 with an AMVA panel. It won't glow like IPS monitors do and...

for your exact budget, ill have a look in a moment, but if you want to save some $$ have a look on ebay for a yamakasi q270, im thinking of getting one at christmas, BUT you have to buy them from korea... they are basically, korean monitors (obviously) with asus/acer (correct me if im wrong) panels in a different frame, they are 1440p 120hz monitors, which is even better for gaming on! they are 200 GBP so i imagine about $270 which is about half your budget, so you can get another 290 with that money!! and fully enjoy that 120hz

This makes black look less grey. The contrast ratio is also fantastic. A typical IPS or TN monitor has a contrast ratio of less than 1000:1. The AMVA panel is 3000:1.

Note that dynamic contrast ratios quoted for any of these monitors are rubbish. They turn brightness to 100% and then show a completely black image so that the back light can be dimmed. These ratios are not achievable in real world usage. Dynamic contrast needs to be disabled to get accurate contrast and colour.

All of these monitors are great for the PC.
On the xbox, I think you will be limited to 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz.
