Okay, so I'm building a PC this Christmas for the main purpose of gaming. Let me just say I'm just about entirely new to PC building and I don't know too much but I did create a build that I feel confident in. The budget is around $1000, it may be a bit over but that doesnt matter, and this is not including peripherals. I have already chosen my peripherals so do not worry about that. I want verify that everything is compatible and I want to know just how good this build is for the money I'm spending. If you have any recommendations please share them. My build is:

Graphics Card: XFX RADEON Double D R9 280X

Processor: AMD FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3

MOBO: ASUS Micro ATX DDR3 2000 AMD AM3+

PSU: Corsair CX Series 750 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Bronze

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

HDD: WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch

SSD: Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Single Unit Version Internal SSD

Optical Drive: Samsung SATA 1.5 Gb-s

Case: Corsair Carbide Series Black 400R Mid Tower Computer Case

I appreciate any feedback, thank you.

Solution
With your budget, I would use a i5-4690K and a Z97 motherboard.

For the graphics card a GTX970 would be a more appropriate choice.

120gb evo is ok, but 240gb may let you defer on the hard drive until you need the space.

That would be great, but Im afraid that the price of my build with these added instead of what I have would be far over my $1000 budget.
