Hello guys,
i'm having trouble with my new PC:
Intel I5 3330 @3.00GHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX750Ti
2x2 DDR3 2GB RAM 10600
500GB HD
Power Supply EVGA 500w 80 Plus
I'm having problems when I play games. Generally 2 things happens: BSOD 124 or it's lost video and the power leds still on. When it happens it's become a lot hard to boot up again. My GPU was working just fine with my 2nd generation intel i3 and my old MotherBoard. There's a list of things that I've tried before:
- Reinstall Windows 7
- Run memtest, CPU test and HD test of Hirens Boot CD
- Install the lastest drivers of all devices
- Increase vcore (I just set up a new voltage but I'm not sure of the maximum I can set it up)
- Removed GPU and put it again on the PCI-e
- Disable Intel C states in Bios Setup
Guy, I don't know what do anymore. Can you help me please?
There's a thing I want to register: Sometimes when the first BSOD or the video blackout occours, when I try to power on the PC again It's power on but the power leds don't light up. I hope it could help.
I believe this is important too:

bugcheck 124 with the first parameter =0
means that the CPU called the bugcheck because of a internal error
most of the time it is cause by the CPU detecting cache errors in its internal cache memory and calling the bugcheck
the most often cause are: overclocking the CPU, the CPU overheating, the voltage to the CPU fluctuating.
The last case is common when people upgrade the GPU and they forget to plug in the supplemental power connectors from the power supply to the graphics card. (or the power supply is underpowered, just a little so that the cpu voltage drops too low but not low enough to reboot the system)
- on older machines, check your CPU fan and power supply fan and make sure they are spinning (blow the dust out)
- turn off any overclocking in BIOS, disable any overclocking software you have installed (cpu and GPU overclocking software)
- if you installed a new GPU go to the BIOS and reset it to defaults and reconfigure with the new GPU installed. It will rebuild the database of hardware/interrupts dma channels used that it gives to windows.
oh, I have been told that some hacked versions of windows remap some of the error codes to bughceck 124
to avoid detection. So instead of a security check failure bugcheck you get bugcheck 124.

Hello johnbl, thanks for the reply.
I haven't overclocked my sistem but the Intel Turbo Boost is enabled on my UEFI. I tried to disable but the problems persists.
About the power supply, i had a Sentey 450w and just replaced for a EVGA 500w to be sure that's not a power supply problem. My CPU and GPU cooler are spinning very well (I bought a Deepcool Gamma Archer to my CPU)
My GPU is a GTX750ti and is not plugged in any supplemental power connectors from the power suply, just the PCI-E slot.
I have an ASROCK H61M-HP4 and I can't see anything in UEFI that I can change to solve my problem. Maybe I can post some photos of the UEFI later (I'm working right now) to see if you guys could identify something wrong
Thanks a lot for now!!

I have an ASROCK H61M-HP4 and I can't see anything in UEFI that I can change to solve my problem. Maybe I can post some photos of the UEFI later (I'm working right now) to see if you guys could identify something wrong
Thanks a lot for now!!

the GTX750TI looks like it can actually pull 68 watts from the PCIe bus
(75 watts max is allowed to be pulled from the motherboard so that should be ok)
they recommend a 400 watt power supply, so that should be ok.
I would update the BIOS, reset the BIOS to defaults, install the CPU chipset drivers directly from intel's website.
then retest, if you get a bugcheck, place the memory dump on a public server so it can be looked at with the windows debugger using the !errrec command to see what the CPU is complaining about. Often it will be the cache memory in the CPU and that error can be caused by incorrect voltage settings in the default BIOS settings for the CPU. (it is why you want to update the BIOS, it has a table that maps the correct voltage to various pins on the CPU with the clock rate that the CPU is currently running at. Some BIOS have set the numbers (voltages) too high and the just cause various cache memory problems.

Joh, i'll make that tests tomorrow. But I have a question: Sometimes my PC reboot/loss video BEFORE windows boot process. I have to reboot so many times to windows start and sometimes when i power up the PC the power leds don't light up. I foun this on Intel's website: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?Dwnld...
You think It could help me?
Oh, I already update my bios before open this thread. Thanks a lot, John. I hope I do not need to replace my CPU. I purchased it recently.

that kind of sounds like a power supply problem, Sometimes a power supply regulator will start to fail on one of the lines. A good power supply will not allow the computer to boot until all lines are at the correct voltage for that line. It has a signal line going to the motherboard that indicated power_ok. If that signal is not set, then the motherboard should wait until the power supply is ready. if the power supply never gets ready it will never boot. When the power regulator starts to fail, the signal may go on and off. This will let the motherboard boot but a few moments later their would be power problems to the CPU, then the CPU memory controller gets memory errors and the CPU calls a bugcheck.
in other words, your power supply is failing and you want to try an new one.
(but make sure the power supply fan is working and you blow the dust out)
I don't think the intel bios test will be of any help in this case. The BIOS configures the hardware and passes control to windows. For the most part it will not be in use after windows is running and would not effect this problem. (unless it made a error during the preboot of windows configuration)

John, I had a Sentet BXP450 (450w) I was not sure if this a real 450w por supply (In Brazil we use "real" to specify if the power supply really delivery the W of the box specification. I'm not sure if this is the correct term, sorry) and bought an EVGA 500w (it's a good power supply I guess) but with the two power supplys that problem happened.
In the last 2 months I've changed everything in my PC, except my RAM memory and HDD. When I have that power led problem sometimes I have to disconnect my HDD sata cable and connect it again and the PC power up. But sometimes I have to disconnect the ATX cable from the mobo and power up again

EDIT
if your motherboard BIOS has a setting for PLL or VCCPLL for the CPU. Check the setting to make sure it is in the range
Min = 1.71 volts
Max = 1.89 volts
default should be 1.8 Volts.
(Processor System Agent I/O Buffer Supply DC Voltage )
I have seen systems set the default too high (1.95 Volts) for overclocking but the system gets cache memory errors when they are not overclocking.
(spec is for a 3rd generation I5 3330 CPU revision September 2012)
the phase locked loop voltage helps to set the voltage to the clock frequency and enable data to enter the CPU cache memory at the Correct rate/timing.
Well, the power requlators on the mother board could also set incorrectly in the BIOS of the motherboard. or the voltage requlation on the motherboard can be failing. If you have a memory dump please post it on a server. I can check a few things in the memory dump.

isn't 0x124 vcore? it sounds like this chip wants more voltage.
if you go into your bios and go to the oc tweaker section, when you scroll down to the voltage control, will it let you change anything?
you can try chaning power saving mode to disable. this should allow your i5-3330 to always use high power and not change voltage to low power.
if that does not work you can raise the cpu core voltage offset, if it will let you.
hope this helps.

Here
The "Auto" settings is about DRAM Voltage.
If you identify something that have relation with cpu voltage please tell me and i'll try to change it.

I am confused, why would you overclock the integrated CPU graphics if you have a Nvidia GeForce GTX750Ti
installed? Are you using both devices at the same time?

Thats the point. I changed this setting thinking it was related to the cpu voltages but I was completly wrong

Well, the power requlators on the mother board could also set incorrectly in the BIOS of the motherboard. or the voltage requlation on the motherboard can be failing. If you have a memory dump please post it on a server. I can check a few things in the memory dump.Vitor Gadi said:

that kind of sounds like a power supply problem, Sometimes a power supply regulator will start to fail on one of the lines. This will let the motherboard boot but a few moments later their would be power problems to the CPU, then the CPU memory controller gets memory errors and the CPU calls a bugcheck.in other words, your power supply is failing and you want to try an new one.
(but make sure the power supply fan is working and you blow the dust out)
I don't think the intel bios test will be of any help in this case. The BIOS configures the hardware and passes control to windows. For the most part it will not be in use after windows is running and would not effect this problem. (unless it made a error during the preboot of windows configuration)

the GTX750TI looks like it can actually pull 68 watts from the PCIe bus(75 watts max is allowed to be pulled from the motherboard so that should be ok)
they recommend a 400 watt power supply, so that should be ok.
I think I have the problem of the century.
I have a lot of them hahahaha! I'll surely post when I hit my home.
Thanks a lot John. It's very greatful too see good people who likes to help

I am confused, why would you overclock the integrated CPU graphics if you have a Nvidia GeForce GTX750Ti installed? Are you using both devices at the same time?

what is "gt overclocking"? if you scroll that menu down, are there any other options? it look like from the picture that your in the advanced tab. go to the oc tweaker tab.Hello! It is in the oc tweaker menu. When I enable the GT Overclocking I have GT overclocking support, (who is on 1050Mhz) and Gt overclocking voltage is on auto. And it can be changed from +0.5v to 0.25v but I already tried to change it but wasnt the solution

You are running windows 7 verision RTM.
-you must be running windows 7 service pack 1 +updates in order to run the video drivers you have installed.
-you can not trust the actual error code 0x124 if you are running a pirate version of windows. I guess some of these versions map the error codes to bugcheck 0x124 to avoid detection.
so, update your windows version to the service pack and apply all the windows updates and see if you still have the problem.
If so, provide a memory dump and I can take a look.

This dump file is from a window 7 release to manufacturing version. It does not have the service pack or updates installed.
if you ran windows updates they are not being applied

if you install service pack 1 + updates you have to reboot before and after the install and update. It will update your video drivers and put the driver to be installed on the update. If you install the graphics driver yourself before you reboot, windows will finish the installing the queued driver on reboot and you end up with a mis- matched set of drivers.
- if you have a hacked version of windows, the hack gets mangled and you can also get a black screen.
So, i would go on the first assumption and do a safe boot and remove the graphics drivers and install a complete set directly from the vendor then reboot.

John, I've done the following:
- Uninstalled my GeForce Video Card Graphics/HD Sound Drivers
- Installed Windows 7 SP1 and all others avaible updates
- Downloaded the lastest videocard drivers from nvidia web site.
Until I was using the generic video graphic driver, my PC was working normally. I downloaded the Service Pack update (Believe me, in Brazil it takes a very looong time)
So when I was installing the nvidia driver, my PC reboot. Ok, so I tried again to install it and on the second try i could finish the installation.
When I ran the prime95 my video blackout and my PC doesn't power off (the same scneario again)
But I don't have any BSOD about this, the video just power off.
There's a way to remove the [SOLVED] from the title? My thread will be closed soon? Thanks!

I removed the solved selection.
After you have all the updates. check the status of your activation of windows to make sure it is still activated.
ii you get a bugcheck go ahead and post it.
ok, you have to define what you mean by video black out.
does the video go black but it seems that the computer is still running?
or does it seem that the system is in the process of a reboot to BIOS.
prime95 normally causes the system CPU to use lots of power and can cause the CPU to overheat.
(check the fans on the CPU and they should be running at full speed while the test is running)
if the CPU overheats it will do a thermal shutdown of the CPU and you video will will go black just like when you reboot the machine but the BIOS will not start until the CPU cools down a little. (should only take a few seconds if the cpu fan is working)
on some older machines the CPU cooler might need to be taken off and thermal paste re applied.
you might also run a program to watch your CPU temps while running prime95.
if your system CPU does a thermal shutdown you will not get a bugcheck or memory dump.

Hello, John. I use HWMonitor to check my system temp while running prime95. My cpu in idle state: 37~42ºC and while prime95 is working it stays around 51~55ºC so I think it's normal, right?
What I mean by video blackout is just as you descrypted: The video goes black but my cpu and gpu fan still working and the power led too. But sometimes it's reboot (rare)
I think I don't have a overheating problem. But I'm open to any sugestion, of course.
John, do you believe it really could be a vcore problem? But, if I don't have an option to change this on the UEFI my problem is uncorrectable?
Thanks!

I would say it is more likely only a vcore problem if your power to vcore is fluctuating. IE a failing voltage regulator, over taxed power supply, too much power being used by graphics card (more that 75Watts) you have replaced the power supply, so maybe the voltage regulation on the motherboard.
I guess you could also have a defect in the actual CPU. Maybe run the intel cpu diagnostic tool to see if it reports a error.
I assume by now that you have updated your BIOS and installed the latest intel chipset drivers from intel to get the latest microcode fixes.
(and reset your BIOS to defaults, with no overclocking)
If you have a current bugcheck memory dump go ahead and post it again. I can take a quick look to see if I see anything odd.
You might even do a kernel memory dump or full memory dump. They will dump more info and allow more debug commands to be used.

Do you think this could be a solution? Consider the following:
- Install a Windows 7 version (Already with SP1)
- Install the updated drivers of all devices
About the CPU, maybe could be a defect... Cause when the video blackout comes up, when I try to boot again the power leds don't light up and everything that I already said happens. I'm kinda sad about this. Here in my country is a very expensive to buy these things and when something goes wrong... well... BUROCRACY.
I'll be back soon with new reports. Thanks again!
I'll run the Intel CPU diagnostic when I hit my home. Since the Windows 7 SPi installation the BSOD's does'nt show up again.

John, I ran the Intel intel processor diagnostic tool and made a video of what happened. I hope it helps you to help me
please, watch in HD and sorry for the camera shaking. As you can see (I hope) my temps are in anacceptable rate, but in the end of the test my PC rebooted at least 3 times and got stucked in the UEFI menu. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnXXuiDmqLU&feature=you...
My bios setup are in deafult. I made the video on the second try to run the test, at the first try i got that "video blackout" problem.
Thank you!
