So long story short my motherboard was likely damaged while moving (not sure how), and I may have to buy one from a different manufacturer (RMA will take a while, can't afford that much down time). If I cannot get one of the same make in reasonable condition, will I likely have to reinstall windows? I will be going for a Asus P8Z77-V to an Asrock z77 Extreme4. Other topics seem to suggest that I won't, would like to be sure. Thanks in advance.

No, Windows will definitely detect that it's a different board and ask you to reactivate or you might even have to reinstall Windows.

Every mobo replacement I have performed where it isn't an exact replacement, I had to reload Windows. Some people do get lucky....
