Hi,

I have a non-working external WD My Passport 500 GB External HDD

P/N WDBACX7500ABK - 01
S/N WXD1EA0FA482

After reading through several posts, I've decided that the problem may be a shorted out 12v TVS diode - I've already bought a multimeter, but now I find myself unable to identify the TVS diode. I've gone through several of Fzabkar's posts, but I was unable to follow his notes on how to identify the (D4) TVS diode, probably due to my own lack of tech savvy.

I am including a photo (hopefully you can all see it) I was able to spot D1, D2, and R64 (which I marked with yellow dots) - I'm not sure if the diode on my model will be under a different name or if I'm just not looking hard enough.

Thanks in advance for any help!
