I'm currently using an amd athlon x4 760k with a tx3 cpu cooler. I'm not overclocking... Back when I was using the stock cooler, I can remember cpu temps in the 90's and the lowest I've ever seen on the stock cooler would be 50 degrees celsius. Now with this aftermarket cpu cooler, the highest I've ever seen it go was 84 degrees celsius and the lowest was somewhere in the lower 40's. I know this is a improvement, but I'm still concerned about high temps...and I didn't even overclocked yet. Is this normal/stable?

Clean your CPU cooler from dust and reapply it with new thermal paste. What program are you using to monitor temps.

Maybe you should check the TIM application. Those temps are WAY too high for a not-overclocked cpu, even with the stock cooler.

I use speccy and cpuid hwmonitor. The thing is, is that I just installed the cooler. I used arctic silver and applied a few squirts in the center and secured the cooler. So I don't know if a re-installation would fix it.

Perhaps I applied too little? Is it good to have more or less of it?
