I have a ASRock Z97 Pro4 which with some research is shown to have a 4+2 power phase. My processor is an i5 4690K @3.5GHz.

I am by no means looking to majorly overclock but would like to reach around 4.0GHz or potentially 4.2GHz.

Is this viable on my board? I've read that power phases are not concrete in that a 6+2 power phase may not be better than a 4+2 power phase on a different board as the component quality may differ.

Solution
The board is more than fine for such a mild OC, something moderate like 4.5GHz should also be possible with good cooling. 4+2 is sufficient for i5, the TDP is so less that even 4+1 is sufficient. ASROCK uses high quality caps so you'll be fine with the combo for intended OC :)
PS: Every CPU is different, but with any good i5, this OC on this board is possible.
