Hi,

My Philips 42PFL3605S/98 LCD Tv has a problem. It was raining and I was watching my Tv. Suddenly there was a lightning strike and my Tv went totally dead (No standy LED light) . I opened up the power supply board and checked for the +5V and +12V as stated in the manual and they are absent . Checked all the components on top of the board and the SMD components underneath. All seemed OK, and I suspected the 6 pin switching IC (Q0465R) and replaced it. When I ON the power and pressed the power switch on the side, after 2 to 3 secs, the picture appeared for a split second and disappeared, but the sound remained. Then the standby LED started blinking in a constant manner. It blinks once, then pause for about a second, then blinks 4 times continuosly and pause for another second, This blinking pattern continues until I press the power button again, then the blinking stops. Now if I press the button again, the picture appears again for a split second and disappears, but sound remains and the blinking starts again. I opened up the power supply board again to check the high tension votages across the 2 secondary windings powering the Backlight. I set my multimeter to maximum reading(750V AC). When I press the power switch, after about 2 to 3 secs, the meter surges to full deflection (I guess above 1000V), at this time the picture appears and also a blue LED on the power board. Then after about a second the meter drops to zero, the picture disappears and also the blue LED.
Can someone advice whether the problem is the power supply or the backlight. I do not have any idea on how to test the backlight. Does anyone has a schematic of the power supply board (3PAGC10031A-R).

Please can someone help.

Thanks

Carlos
