For most of today I've been trying to get a better overclock for my Sapphire Radeon R9 270X Dual X and managed to increase it substantially, and I was wondering if there was any way I would be able to get an even better overclock. My GPU's default values are:
GPU default clock - 1070mhz
Default VRAM clock - 1400mhz
Prior to beginning to tweak my overclock more today, my GPU clock was set to 1150mhz stable with a 20mV increase in GPU voltage through the Sapphire Tri XX overclocking utility where it was running steady at 1.245V where 1.3V was the voltage capped by the utility. In the AMD Catalyst Control Centre, I allowed a 20% power offset for my GPU but all of the other tweaking was done through the Sapphire Tri XX utility.
Today, using Unigine Valley benchmark, 3D Mark 11 and GPU-Z PCI-E load test to check stability I was able to raise my overclock more to:
GPU Clock - 1190mhz (+120mhz over stock)
RAM Clock - 1510mhz (+110mhz over stock)
voltage is at 1.295V (maximum voltage allowed is 1.3V so almost at limit)
20% power offset
Maximum temperature at 70 degrees with a custom fan control set to 60% after GPU reaches 70 degrees is basically 70-71 degrees on Unigine Valley 30min test.
That's within safe temperatures I presume. Using GPU-Z, the maximum temperature was 62 degrees so that's even better. I'm raising the clocks in 10mhz increments, so basically taking it nice and slow. I spent basically the entire day today testing everything to make sure it was all okay. So anyways, is there any way I can improve on this overclock (hopefully reach 1200mhz on the core)? I don't want to try anything stupid to try and make my GPU run any faster so if there's any good ways to increase it then I'll try it.
EDIT: Earlier today I had already tried GPU clock 1200mhz with RAM clock at default 1400mhz with 1.295V but it wasn't stable. At 1.270V i was able to achieve a GPU clock of 1170mhz and RAM clock of 1450mhz, so raising voltage 25mV gave me an extra overall 80mhz overclock.
