So recently I bought a CD that has a game on it by my friend. But whenever I put the CD in my Optical Drive and I click on open DVD RW Drive, it opens a "Burn a disc" window.

In it there are 2 options which are :

Like a USB flash drtive

and

With a CD/DVD player

I clicked on "Like a USB Flash Drive" and it tried to format it, luckily I removed the CD before it could even do anything.

Now I want to access whatever is inside it, but I am afraid windows might try to format it.

What do those options mean? and how do I access the folders inside without formatting it?

It's because it's a re-writable disc that Windows offers to format it (so you can copy files to it just like it was a hard drive).

When the options box pops up, just close it. For a permanent fix, change the "Autoplay" settings in Control Panel (WinVista/Win7).

Better still, don't use re-writable discs. Data integrity is much better on write-once discs.
