All games freezing after overclock

Hello everyone, experiencing a massive issue which needs to be fixed quickly.

Basically, I just overclocked my i7 from 3.5Ghz to 4.2Ghz successfully. However, whenever I try and play ANY game, the whole PC crashes, I can't even Ctrl+Alt+Del to open the task manager.

I tried opening games not in full screen mode, although the only one capable of that is Minecraft. It seems that when not in full screen, Minecraft will run quite well. But the moment I either increase the window size or full screen it, the whole thing just crashes and I need to manually restart the computer.

I would really appreciate some help, without having to lose my overclock (4.2Ghz at 1.125 Volts)
Thanks!

What i7 are you using?
4.2 @1.125 seems very good.

Have you stress tested?
Run OCCT until the temps stabilize.

What graphics card and psu are you using.
A cheap psu might not be able to deliver sufficient power when a game increases the demand on the graphics card.

Is your graphics driver current?

I used Intel Burn Tester a few times on different settings, and it said it was ok. I don't have a graphics card, which is why I thought I should overclock, in order to achieve better gaming performance (although I'm getting a gtx 970 in about 4 weeks). Also, I'm using an i7 3770k

Sorry but it isn't a "successfull" overclock if whenever the system is stressed in the least you end up with any instability. I am an AMD user so I don't know the ins and outs of overclocking on your platform. I do know that if I can't run Prime95 for a at least two hours without problems I don't consider an overclock stable.

Well it can handle any stress I put on it, so I would call it successful. It's just some sort of settings incompatibility that's causing it to not work. I will remove my overclock and start again and see if that fixes it.

Try running Prime95 and see for yourself then. "All games freezing after overclock"? I would hardly qualify that as a succesful overclock. Things ran fine prior to your overclock. You overclock and then have problems. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to put that puzzle together. lol!

Guys please, you know what I meant by successful - I meant that it all the stress tests I threw at it (about 3 or 4) returned positive results, and that my voltage was high enough for the CPU to run ok. That's what is generally meant by the success of an overclock. The games freezing is just a side affect of it, but that doesn't mean the overclock itself was unsuccessful.

Anyway, I reset my motherboard to factory settings and overclocked it again with exactly the same settings, and it seems to work fine. Not sure what it was about. It may have been because I increased the Graphics Processor Ratio Limit (separately to the overclock) from 1.25Ghz to 1.35Ghz. Oh well, fixed now, thanks:)
