Is the £400-£500 just for the CPU and Mobo, or for the Mobo too?

You shouldn't mix memory modules , buy identical ones at the same time.

They're both good mobo's but people seem to prefer the asus. Also you can select a water cooler like the h100i if you want. I chose air because it is more quiet and I prefer them.

Since you're ram is running in dual channel that should be 1600mhz so I would assume it would work, although I am not ram expert. Im not familiar with the brand, but if its desktop ram it should work fine. But to make sure try those out before you buy another set.

For the Mobo, I have heard MSI has poor QC so I would stay away from them. The Asrock and the Asus I mentioned above are great boards. This is also a good one.

The cpu cooler is not a particularly good one so dont expect very good cooling. If you spend under $50 I would recommend an air cooler as they are much better at that price. These are the cheapest water coolers I would recommend, although a good air cooler at that price will perform better and be quieter.

CPU Cooler: Corsair H90 94.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (£63.99 @ Amazon UK)
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X31 69.5 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (£56.39 @ Aria PC)
Total: £120.38

OP, why do you need an i7 exactly? An i5 almost gives out the same amount of performance in terms of gaming and video rendering.
