I have a 1T external WD hard drive that I have not used in a while, and now its barely functions. I connected the device, and it does not show on "My computer", but it installs the drivers, and it shows up on my disk management. There is no weird sound coming, and the cable seems to be in right conditions.
On disk management "Volume list" it shows up like 3 disk, and on disk list as one ("Disk 1").
"Partition Style" is GPT, and "File System" is blank
Is GPT vs Win7 the reason i cant read it? I used to have a Mac and maybe my dirty pass is hunting me.

Hi there ray saab,

I would say most probably yes. Do you have any data on the drive? If not, I would say the best you can do, after you intend to use it on a Win installed PC, is to format it into NTFS format.

Here is a link in case you need it: http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3865

Hope this will help,
