Hey,

I'm currently putting together a NAS box from old computer parts + new hard drives, and redoing my home network. My question is:

- When I go to choose which living room box to buy for each room with a TV, which one is the best for sharing media from a NAS? As well as also being good for netflix etc.

I was looking at the WD TV PLAY devices. They get good reviews, and apparently share custom networked media pretty well. Suggestions?

If you are a builder, and it sounds like you are, you may want to consider Raspberry Pi builds for your HTPC. Take a look HERE for some information on them.

Depends on your budget.

Personally, I think an Asus Chromebox running XBMC/OpenELEC is the single best HTPC device out there for less than $300. WDTV Play would function much the same.

Depending on what you are willing to mess with, a Roku with Plex running on your server will also do what you want.
