Hi guys,

I'm having the good old problem: My computer shuts down when playing, but only when gaming, I can use the computer for hours if it's only using programs such as Office or Photoshop or Lightroom.
To give you more details, it shuts down completely, no fps drop, no warning, no restart, it just shuts down. And when it does, I can't just turn it on with the power button of the case, I have to turn off the PSU for a couple of seconds and then turn on PSU/computer.

The computer it's new (1 week), so there's no dust on the fans.

I ran Prime95 and Funmark separately to measure the temperatures under Stress tests, and none of the temps where out of range...

My biggest suspicion was that the PSU was not being able ot handle all the workload of games, so I decided to run Prime95 and Funmark at the same time, but so far it's been runing for 1 hour and no sudden shutdown. I'm thinking maybe the problem occurs when all the components are fighting for resources (RAM, CPU, GPU, HDD) and not just two of them (CPU and GPU).

Well I hope someone can give me a hand on the matter, this is so frustrating since I bought this build for gaming and I'm being unable to play!!

Thanks!!!

I would suspect the very low quality psu. This is a common problem with bargain bin units.

Ok.. is there anyway I can test if the problem is really the PSU?

I ask because I've read reviews that said this PSU should be good enough for the specs of my computer.

Thanks in advance...

Not unless you can afford a load tester. They are only a few grand.

Ok... The thing is, given the specs of my computer, how is it possible that it shuts down while playing Diablo 3 (game that my laptop runs), but it doesn't shut down when I run Prime95 + Furmark?

At the load that game puts on the psu it is more unstable than the higher load furmark puts it under. It why most good reviewers test psu stability at different loads.

Aaaah, ok.

Thank you very much for the support.

One final question: would the AeroCool Strike-X Power 600W 80 Plus Bronce be good for running my PC?

No, Aerocool PSUs are very poor. They are a tier 4 unit.
Try to get a 550w(or larger) PSU from tiers 1 or 2(a and b).
